The Hirdaramani Group commenced the Hirdaramani Green Initiative, a new venture, encompassing all of the company’s ethical activities in 2006. Our aim is to develop and improve the quality of life and the standard of living among our employees and the community while protecting the environment.

A precise working plan was developed to focus on the following categories:

 - Waste Management
 - Climate
 - Fair & Ethical Partners
 - Sustainable Materials
 - Community Development

CKT Apparel (Pvt) Limited, located in Agalawatte: the Group’s first eco-conscious factory, will be operational in the first half of 2008 and will culminate our focus areas in a macro and micro level with strategies that have been developed and adopted in conjunction with specialist external organizations as well as our homegrown Green Team.

Our Group has also embarked on a nine month plan to map, assess and react to its Carbon Footprint. In preparation for ISO 14001 approval, the Hirdaramani Group believes that it is essential to assess each area of waste to see how we can consume scarce resources in a more responsible manner. This process has already begun and we believe that the group will be one of the frontrunners with its green philosophy.
