HIRDARAMANI GROUP PARTNERS WITH HELP AGE SRI LANKA TO CONDUCT MEDICAL CAMPS FOR PARENTS OF ITS ASSOCIATES

The Hirdaramani Group recently partnered with HelpAge Sri Lanka to provide free healthcare services for parents of its associates. Organised through the Hirdaramani Family Memorial Trust, HelpAge Sri Lanka carried out camps for facilities within both the Knit and Woven cluster. Associates at the facilities were able to bring their parents to the free health camps which consisted of eye and medical check ups and subsequent treatment. Anyone that required were provided with cataract surgeries, bifocal and reading spectacles as well as necessary treatment for blood pressure and diabetic conditions. HelpAge Sri Lanka is a not for profit charitable Non-Governmental Organization working for and on behalf of disadvantaged senior citizens in Sri Lanka to improve their quality of life.

Commenting on the initiative, Nikhil Hirdaramani, Director of The Hirdaramani Group and Trustee of The Hirdaramani Memorial Trust said: "The Hirdaramani family has always regarded its associates as part of the extended family and acknowledge the role that their families play in supporting them. We also feel that we have a responsibility to support wider community initiatives and have done so throughout our 128-year history. We hope this partnership can help us to improve the health conditions of the elderly resulting in increased life expectancy in Sri Lanka."

Adding further, Douglas Paranawithana - Official, Help Age Sri Lanka said, "Fading vision and deteriorating health are some of the common complaints among the elderly. HelpAge Sri Lanka is pleased to partner Hirdaramani Group to improve vision and offer advice on illnesses to parents of Hirdaramani employees at its Knit and Woven clusters. Help Age is on an aggressive drive to improve eye health amongst the elderly across Sri Lanka. We value the support provided by Hirdaramani's to our cause and to the parents of its employees."

Medical and Eye Camps are conducted island wide in order to provide free health and eye care services to vulnerable senior citizens. HelpAge Sri Lanka's dedicated team of doctors examine patients, conduct necessary medical tests and provide medical advice. These patients are also entitled to free medication. Alongside these medical camps, they also provide free eye check-ups by qualified optometrists. Free spectacles are also issued to those in need.

Since inception, Hirdaramani has played a major role in providing community support. With programs ranging from developing and supporting local schools, hospitals and children's homes to assistance during disaster relief efforts and rebuilding projects, the Group remains committed to supporting an array of community development schemes in its operating countries and industries.
